Silvia Ortiz-Rosales '12 is awarded a $10,000 college scholarship by the National Center for Learning Disabilities and is featured in the New York Times. In her essay on the NCLD website, Silvia details how her dyslexia is "an obstacle, not a limitation."
SJND runner Nick Ratto '12, who has signed a NCAA letter of intent to run for UC Davis and who has been a leader on the school's cross country and track teams, was interviewed by Cross Country Express.

Dr. Sharine Thenard '94 was recognized as one of Girls Inc.'s Women Who Dare for her leadership, especially on issues that affect children, and featured on the front page of the Alameda Journal. She was also featured in the cover story of SJND's Update magazine, which shared how she took her dental staff to Jamaica and provided dental care to dozens of children there.

The spring musical at SJND, Little Shop of Horrors, enchants sold-out audiences and earns a great review in the Alameda Journal.
"St. Joseph Maintains Its Kidd Connection," an article about how Pilots basketball players, lead by Gemeny Givens '12, are texting with NBA player Jason Kidd '92 during their amazing high school season, runs in the San Francisco Chronicle and in the national pages of MaxPreps.

The third annual Diocesan Science Fair at Saint Joseph Notre Dame High School is Feb. 25, and seventh and eighth grade science students are invited to participate, according to an article in the Catholic Voice.
Jason Kidd '92 talks with the New York Times about playing for Coach LaPorte at SJND. "He instilled the sense of ... helping your teammates get better. That's stuck with me since St. Joe's."

The California Div. V Championship Pilots basketball team is the 2011 Team of the Year, according to the Alameda Sun.
Tony Fong, SJND's cross country coach for the past 16 years , was named Coach of the Year by the Oakland Tribune. "I think he is the ideal coach," said Nick Ratto '12 in the article. "He makes you want to run, and he makes running fun."

The San Francisco Chronicle reported on the SJND men's cross country team, which was third in the state championships, with Nick Ratto '12 placing third overall in California Div. V.
The women's volleyball team is seeded third in the North Coast Section playoffs and ranked 14th overall, with a 28-5 record, by the East Bay Prep Corner blog.
SJND won the BSAL cross country championship, lead by senior Nick Ratto, and the Contra Costa Times included an interview with Nick. In second was Gabe Arias-Sheridan '14. It is the school's first league championship since 1999.
Sammie Witherspoon '12 is featured in an article in Alameda Magazine about her trip to New York City to dance with the Rockettes.

A sports feature about the SJND women's volleyball team in the Oakland Tribune reports that the team has gotten off to a stellar start for the season, with a 22-2 record, 5-0 in the BSAL.
The women's volleyball team, with a 14-2 record, debuted in East Bay Prep Corner blog, ranked as the top Div. V team and 15th in the East Bay.
The SJND cross country team is ranked first in the North Coast Section and third in the state. It may be the best team SJND has ever had, according to the Alameda Journal.
